This topographic model of Gusev Crater is modeled from data taken by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter HiRISE. Gusev Crater is currently being explored by whats left of NASA's Spirit Rover (AKA MER-A: Mars Exploration Rover - A). The robot landed there on 1/4/2004 and lasted until its last communication on 3/22/2010. Who knows what its up to these days after it stopped calling home. Someday Mars wont just be a planet inhabited entirely by robots.

Gusev is a large crater about 160 km in diameter. Scientists believe that the crater was covered by standing water, maybe in the form of a lake, early in the history of Mars.
